Harsens Island, MI

Rita was off about a week, well she's always off but you know she was off work. Anyway she took us to "the island" twice during the past week while she did some work at her old job at the yacht club. It's been cold here even for Michigan but it was a nice drive.
We got to go on a ferry!

We watched them kite-surfing on Muscomoot Bay.

Collinsville & the Cahokia Mounds

Sorry this is a late post. Monday May 5th was a beautiful, sunny day. Rita took us to the Cahokia Mounds near Collinsville. She made us climb up all those stairs! We were tired and so we sat on one of the signs to rest up. It was great to stand on the top of the mound and see the countryside. Rita took a picture of us with St Louis in the background. We're a little fuzzy but Ginette won't hold still, she thought Rita might throw us over the edge. Ha ha. Of course we didn't say anything about that until we were back in the parking lot.

We also went into Collinsville and took some pics of where Rita's great aunts used to live. One is an historic house that looks like they're going to renovate. Nice town.

The next day was rainy again but the storm cleared up and we took off almost on time.

Rita added some more photos to April 20 and 21 posts - trip to see Auntee and Bettendorf.

We'd really like to get some comments from everyone - Raff & Ginette

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there from Raff & Ginette!!!

Last night we were being lulled to sleep by the sound of gentle rain on the window and the faint sound of a train whistle in the distance, when all of a sudden the wind picked up and the rain started loudly beating on the window and the wind started howling and we were scared and asked to get under the covers with Rita ... so she shoved us under the pillows and told us to be quiet and go to sleep. What a grouch!

Lots of people in the area are without power today. Collinsville was without power this morning, other towns in the area are still without power this evening. The restaurants that did have power in the area had long lines out the doors for Mother's Day lunches. The hotel here is starting to get people who have lost power and don't want to spend a cold night.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer with maybe even some sunshine so we may get to go sightseeing!

Pontoon Beach, IL

Well, we're here in Pontoon Beach but haven't seen a beach anywhere. It's been raining a lot and its colder today.

The Days Inn is nice with a nice big room and an indoor pool.

Rita took us to Collinsville, IL for shopping. She then drove to the downtown area to look around. Collinsville is about 13 miles from Pontoon Beach. Rita's Mom spent a lot of summers there visiting relatives.
