We'll Rita's two weeks off are almost up. She spent most of the time being sick with the flu. She did took us out to the "farm" and took our picture on the gargoyle (very cold sitting on gargoyles!). Today it snowed again and it was very pretty in the neighborhood. Sunday we leave for Texas. Westlaco, that is, down by McAllen. It should be nice and warm there.

Actually today is Feb 29, 2008 but Rita had the flu. She's feeling better now. Here is a picture of us checking in at the Little Rock Airport. Also we had to get off the plane in Memphis (for cleaning) and took a walk around. Isn't that a great picture of us with Elvis's sequined outfit! We made it home safely.

Springfield MO icestorm

We're a little behind on our blogging because Rita has been hogging the computer for business. Early this week there was an ice storm here in Springfield, MO. We're staying at this nice Days Inn. The owner has ADD but he's very nice and made Rita waffles for breakfast several mornings (she said they tasted good but didn't share!). Because of the ice storm the hotel was short staffed and so the days were long for Rita because the owners and the staff that made it in didn't have anyone to relieve them during training and there were constant interuptions. The hotel was pretty full because a lot of people in the area lost power.

And don't forget we'd like to hear from you, so please leave some comments.

Sat 08 Feb 08

Another sunny but cold day. Rita didn't have to be at work until 10am. At 2:30 she took us for a ride into Searcy.

Don't we look cute in front of the courthouse?
And look at our photo on the Super 8 sign!

Rita had to work a couple of hours, then she spent the evening watching TV with us before checking on the night audit. Tomorrow we get to take a road trip to Missouri.

Friday Feb 8, 2008

It's a beautiful sunny day but cold. Rita started at 7:30 am and finished at 4:30, although she did stop by and had lunch with us. She's doing laundry now - when we complained about being bored she threatened to give us a ride in the washer and dryer - we decided we could find something to do. She says she will have to help with the night audit at midnight but it shouldn't take long. Rita was nice and took us to the pool this evening.
Saturday should be fairly easy with plenty of time off. Maybe she'll take us to a movie.

Thursday

Almost got to have a couple days off! The hotel manager almost didn't go thru with the new system but his wife finally decided differently (it would have cost $5000 to reschedule) and so after hours of waiting around Rita had to work until 1:30 friday morning. We did get to watch Eli Stone on the tv will she waited.

Wednesday

It's chilly here today. Rita had to work all day from 9am to 11:45pm with only a couple of breaks. The training classes went well. She said the computer set up and online connections took hours longer than necessary because they were given the wrong IP addresses. Once support gave them the new ones the set up finished quickly. She forgot to turn the tv on and we got a little bored and missed out favorite shows.

Big Scary Storms

Rita hid us in a drawer during the thunderstorm! last night!
So glad we didn't get any tornadoes!

We watched the Weather Channel all day today while Rita was working. It was cold and windy today. We sure hope Rita has some time to take us out for a walk.

Travel Day

So finally, after spending a month stuck in Rita's suitcase, we're here in Searcy, AR. Searcy is about an hour north of Little Rock. We almost didn't make it to Little Rock. It was a rainy/foggy day and 30 minutes from landing the ceiling was only 1/4 mile - too low to land and they announced we might divert to Fayetteville, AR. About 20 minutes later the ceiling lifted enough for us to land late. They lost one of our wheels and got dirt on our traveling home!!! There was a 20 minute delay at the rental place while they found our car. The address for the hotel was not in GPS but we used a map we picked up in the airport and got Rita through the fog and rain to the hotel. After putting the cases in the room and unpacking us, Rita went off again to set up the computers for the next day. We were tired!
